What is a DATI?

Written by editor

Definition of a DATI
A DATI is an alarm device for lone workers. This type of device is used to protect lone workers. It enables the lone worker to send out an alert in the event of an emergency, so that help can be summoned. In common parlance, a DATI is sometimes referred to as a "PTI DATI" or "PTI de sécurité".

How does a lone worker DATI work?

A DATI can emit a manual alarm triggered by the employee or automatically by detecting a fall, the removal of the device, an absence of movement, the presence of toxic gas. The alarm is transmitted to a person on call or to a professional. The latter then removes any doubt to confirm and qualify the emergency. The most effective DATIs are equipped with microphones and loudspeakers to enable rapid exchange of information. They are also often geolocated to quickly locate a mobile employee in an emergency situation.

What types of lone-worker DATI are there?

The DATI lone worker must not be a constraint for the employee. It must be adaptable to the lone worker's activity. It must also respond perfectly to the risks specific to his or her activity. To achieve this, professionals have developed various types of devices, in different forms:

PTI DATI safety watch from Scutum Premium Services

PTI DATI watch

This PTI DATI device is a connected watch. It enables a lone worker to discreetly trigger an alert in the event of an attack. PTI enclosure with S.O.S

The S.O.S buttons are small, sturdy PTI DATIs usually worn on the belt. They automatically or manually issue an alert in the event of a fall or discomfort. A fall is generally detected through a loss of verticality followed or not by an absence of movement. The robustness of these devices makes them particularly suitable for industrial applications, such as maintenance or materials handling.

The PTI phones are smartphones equipped with a lone worker protection application. An alert can be triggered by pressing a dedicated SOS button, opening the app or thanks to automatic detection. A PTI smartphone is both a business phone and a protective device. It is preferable that the PTI applications with which they are equipped are native and cannot be uninstalled by users.

Boîtier ATEX de Scutum Premium Services

Boîtier ATEX

The boîtier ATEX is the DATI device designed for explosive environments. It therefore complies with ATEX standards. This ATEX PTI enables lone workers to be rescued in the event of accident or aggression, thanks to programmable buttons or fall detection.

These devices are connected to telephone, GSM, radio, GPS and satellite networks... They are equipped with features adapted to the contexts and risks for which they are appropriate. An employee working at height, for example, will be equipped with a DATI detecting a fall, loss of verticality or lack of movement. An employee confronted with incivility or aggression will be equipped with a DATI that can discreetly sound an alert.

What's the difference between a DATI and a PTI?

The acronym DATI refers to the lone worker alarm device, i.e. the electronic device used to trigger the alert. These alert solutions are often referred to as PTI, PTI DATI or security PTI. However, this is a misnomer. The acronym PTI, for protection of the isolated worker, refers to the set of measures to be implemented to protect its isolated employees.

Why should employees be equipped with a lone worker DATI?

As an employer, you must provide your employees working out of sight or earshot of another employee with a warning device. This enables them to be rescued quickly in the event of a serious incident or medical emergency. A DATI is often connected to a 24/7 remote monitoring center. It is therefore the most effective solution in these situations. However, the protection of your isolated workers is not limited to the supply of a DATI for isolated workers.
