Fire safety and evacuation
Prevent, detect and respond effectively to protect lives and limit the impact of fire.
Early detection, rapid warning, lasting protection
Scutum deploys comprehensive fire safety solutions designed to protect people in the event of a fire. Our systems provide early fire detection, immediate activation of audible alarms and clearly identified escape routes and emergency exits.
Emergency lighting and carefully planned evacuation procedures help ensure the safe and efficient evacuation of occupants, while supporting compliance and minimising risk.
Detection, alarm & extinguishing
To detect an outbreak of fire at an early stage, we install fire alarm and detection systems (smoke/heat detectors), combined with automatic or manual extinguishing systems (sprinklers & extinguishers). The aim is to provide a rapid alert, warn occupants, protect property and limit the spread of fire.
Smoke control & fire fighting infrastucture
To support safe evacuation and effective emergency response, we provide natural, mechanical and pneumatic smoke control systems, together with fire-fighting infrastructure including fire hydrants and dry risers.
This infrastructure helps keep escape routes clear and reduces the impact of smoke and toxic gases on people, property and operations.
Emergency lighting, compartmentation & evacuation
Our solutions also include emergency lighting and signage to guide occupants safely to emergency exits. Fire compartmentation measures, including fire doors, fire-resistant partitions and regular inspections, help contain the spread of fire and smoke. We also provide evacuation planning and staff training to help occupants respond effectively and evacuate safely in the event of a fire.
Consulting, Training & Maintenance
In addition to the equipment, Scutum offers comprehensive support: technical advice, training (first and second response team members, evacuation drills), preventive and corrective maintenance to guarantee the long-term performance of your fire system. This commitment enhances the safety of people and property while ensuring regulatory compliance.

FAQ
The Fire Detection System (FDS) identifies the first signs of fire (smoke, heat, flame) using automatic detectors and triggers an alarm. The Fire Safety System (FSS) goes further: it groups together all the equipment (detection, alarm, smoke extraction, compartmentalisation, automatic extinguishing, etc.) interconnected to control the building's safety. Scutum designs and maintains SSIs that comply with APSAD R7 rules and NF S61-931 standards.
Effective evacuation is based on three pillars:
An audible and visual alarm system triggered automatically or manually;
Emergency lighting to ensure pathway visibility;
Clear, compliant signage indicating emergency exits.

How does Scutum maintain fire systems?
Installations are subject to planned preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with APSAD regulations and manufacturer requirements. Scutum technicians carry out functional tests, visual checks, trigger checks and software updates. Each intervention is recorded in a safety register, guaranteeing the system's compliance and ongoing reliability.
Scutum's PFAS-free extinguishers use environmentally-friendly, biodegradable extinguishing agents, while retaining the same effectiveness as traditional models. They reduce the environmental impact of fire-fighting operations and meet the new European requirements banning persistent fluorinated compounds. It's a sustainable, compliant and responsible solution for modern fire protection.
