Fire Protection
Anticipate, detect and control fire risk to protect your teams and buildings and ensure business continuity.
Preventing risk, protecting lives, preserving your business.
Scutum supports the full lifecycle of fire safety systems within commercial premises, from initial compliance audits and tailored recommendations through to installation, commissioning, monitoring and ongoing maintenance. Our approach ensures that all elements of fire safety work together effectively to protect people, property and operations.
This includes the provision and maintenance of fire extinguishers and first-response equipment, fire detection and alarm systems with optional remote monitoring for rapid response, and automatic fire suppression systems such as inert gas solutions to protect critical infrastructure. We also deliver smoke control systems and firefighting infrastructure, including rising mains and fire hydrants, alongside passive fire protection measures such as fire doors and compartmentation to limit the spread of fire and smoke.
In addition, our approach extends to staff training, compliance documentation and support for business continuity planning, helping organisations remain compliant, respond effectively to incidents and recover quickly when required.
1. Audit & Risk Analysis
Comprehensive site assessment covering compliance with applicable UK fire and security regulations, identification and structuring of risk areas, alongside detailed technical recommendations and a defined equipment deployment plan.
2. Fire Extinguishers & First Response Equipment
Fluorine-free (PFAS-free) fire extinguishers, including water, CO₂ and powder units. Installation, inspection and maintenance carried out in accordance with BS 5306 standards and relevant UK fire safety regulations.
3. Fire Detection & Alarm Systems
Conventional and addressable fire detection and alarm systems designed in accordance with BS 5839 standards. Solutions include centralised control panels, networked systems and remote monitoring capabilities, with real-time event transmission to Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC) for rapid response and escalation in line with defined procedures.
4. Smoke Control & Fire Fighting Systems
Natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems designed to support safe evacuation and fire service access, in accordance with BS 9999 and relevant Building Regulations. Fire-fighting infrastructure includes rising mains (dry and wet risers), hose reels and fire hydrants, ensuring effective water supply and operational support during an incident. Solutions are tailored to meet the requirements of commercial, industrial and high-risk buildings, with full compliance to UK fire safety standards.
5. Compartmentation & Emergency Lighting
Passive fire protection measures including fire-resistant doors, walls and partitions designed to limit the spread of fire and smoke in accordance with Building Regulations and relevant British Standards. Emergency lighting systems, including self-contained luminaires and central battery systems, are installed to BS 5266 standards to ensure safe, clearly illuminated escape routes during an evacuation.
6. Fire Safety Advice & Training
Comprehensive training programmes covering the safe use of fire extinguishers, evacuation procedures and fire wardens’ responsibilities. Support includes the development of emergency plans, fire drills and permit-to-work systems where required. Our approach helps strengthen fire safety awareness, ensure regulatory compliance and embed a strong safety culture across your organisation.

FAQ
A fire protection solution brings together all the material resources needed to prevent or control the outbreak of a fire: fire extinguishers (fluorine-free water, powder, CO₂), RIAs, dry columns, automatic extinguishing systems (inert gas), smoke extraction systems, fire doors and emergency lighting. This equipment is chosen according to the configuration of the site, the risks present and the applicable regulations (ERP, ICPE, tertiary sector, etc.).
Performance depends on rigorous periodic checks, carried out in accordance with APSAD rules and NF standards (in particular NF S61-919 for fire extinguishers). During these checks, technicians examine the general condition, pressure, expiry date, mechanical components, location and signage. A compliant and well-maintained installation guarantees maximum efficiency during a real intervention.
Preventive and corrective maintenance is essential to ensure equipment availability. SCUTUM offers APSAD-certified periodic monitoring, including functional checks, compliance checks, traceability of interventions and remote supervision of connected fire safety systems. These measures are part of a Maintenance in Operational Conditions (MCO) process that guarantees the long-term performance of the system.
SCUTUM green extinguishers use fluorine-free (PFAS-free) additives that are environmentally friendly and comply with the latest European requirements. These models offer the same extinguishing efficiency as traditional products while eliminating persistent pollutants. They are part of the SCUTUM Group's CSR and ISO 14001 approach, contributing to more responsible and sustainable fire safety.
