A recognised French manufacturer of high-performance lubricants, MOTUL undertakes around 3,000 business trips each year, the majority within France. As its operations expanded into higher-risk regions and the need for specialist support increased, the company sought to further strengthen its travel risk management programme.

Since 2021, Scutum SF has supported MOTUL with a comprehensive range of Travel Risk Management (TRM) solutions tailored to its organisational requirements and operational needs.

Challenge

MOTUL needed to ensure the safety of employees travelling to higher-risk destinations, provide appropriate support during more complex assignments, and strengthen its ability to assess and manage travel-related risks as its international operations continued to grow. The group also required a consistent Travel Risk Management (TRM) framework, available in multiple languages and capable of supporting all employees, even where travel volumes were relatively low.

Solutions implemented

Scutum deployed four complementary Travel Risk Management (TRM) solutions, creating a comprehensive, scalable and long-term approach to traveller safety.

1 - Complete TRM system

MOTUL benefits from an integrated set of TRM solutions including travel monitoring, safety information, e-learning modules, the mobile application and the SOC. This global foundation enables the group to effectively protect its employees, whatever their mobility profile. The mobile application enables MOTUL employees to trigger an SOS in the event of danger or to declare themselves safe when an urgent alert is issued.

2 - Support for sensitive missions

Scutum SF has provided enhanced support for missions involving an increased level of risk, by providing appropriate monitoring, contextualised recommendations and ongoing support for the teams concerned.

3 - Customised analyses

MOTUL asked Scutum SF to provide country-specific analysis notes to assess the risks associated with its future areas of development and to optimise the preparation of its employees before they travel.

4 - Multilingual services 2026

To facilitate adoption by teams operating in different parts of the world, Scutum SF will roll out a multilingual version of all TRM services in 2026.
