PTI telephone: what do you need to know?

Written by editor

The PTI phone, also known as a GSM DATI or PTI smartphone, is a mobile phone for protecting isolated workers. Thanks to a native application, like other PTI-DATI devices, it can detect and report falls (loss of verticality or lack of movement), illness or attacks.

There are two types of DATI telephone:

The PTI smartphone or PTI phone with a built-in native application: its PTI application cannot be uninstalled, deleted or deactivated by the user. This ensures that all lone workers always have functional protection.
Applications to be installed on the lone worker's smartphone: these applications can be downloaded from app stores and are offered with a monthly paid subscription. They offer basic PTI functions.

At first glance, companies consider this solution to avoid additional costs and quickly protect lone workers. However, unlike the native application of a PTI phone, it can be removed. It therefore does not guarantee continuous, effective protection at all times.

How does the PTI phone work in the event of danger?

With a DATI phone, an alarm can be triggered in two different ways:

Manually: when the worker is conscious, they can activate an alarm themselves simply by pressing the phone's emergency buttons. DATI smartphones are generally equipped with a discreetly accessible SOS button that can be used to trigger an aggression alert.
Automatically: in the event that the lone worker is unconscious, the alarm can be triggered automatically. The phone can actually detect a fall or immobility and send out an accident alert.
